Allana Buick & Bers (ABB) performed peer review and waterproofing consulting services for Perkins + Will, the architect of record for the ´green roof´ system on Building 7500 at Foothill College in Los Altos, California. Building is a cast in place concrete structure with a ´green roof´ system installed on a sloped concrete deck.
ABB performed peer review services to assist the architect of record in selecting the correct waterproofing system. ABB also developed design details of the waterproofing system and performed construction monitoring during installation. This included verifying the condition of the deck prior to membrane installation, the proper cleaning methods of the deck, proper installation of all termination bars, protection layer, and drainage mat, sheet metal flashings, and related sealants.
ABB selected a loose, mechanically attached, single-ply waterproofing system with hot air welded seams to be installed over the concrete deck. Throughout installation, ABB performed necessary seam test cuts to review welding techniques of the hot air welded laps of the single-ply membrane. Upon completion, ABB performed water testing of the entire green roof deck.
